API stands for Application Programming Interface. APIs are used to allow different applications to communicate, retrieve necessary data and present it in a format that is readable to the user.

APIs help in connecting different applications to make operations more time-saving and transparent. For developers APIs make it easier to integrate applications by providing an interface for communication between different applications.

APIs have a strong level of security and governance in a sense that when you are requesting a specific transaction, only necessary data is transmitted to the server, and in the same way, only the data that you need to see will be retrieved and returned from the server. In other words, only absolutely necessary data is shared between the server and the system. Requests and Responses happen through an API, where the data exchange takes place within an application but is not visible to the user. Therefore, to the user it appears as a seamless connection.

In Logivity services application APIs are an integral part, as it enables organizations to integrate Logivity with their in-house TMS applications.
